History of an ancient village...
Borgo Le Mura offers a wonderful opportunity to live the real life of a luxury farmhouse, completely in touch with the nature, very close to Greve in Chianti, in an oasis of peace in the Chianti hills.
At Borgo Le Mura you will discover an extraordinary oasis of hospitality, in an enchanting medieval village in Tuscany.
The ancient village of "Le Mura" dates back to around 1200, like the old parish church which stands nearby.
There are many villages similar to “Borgo Le Mura” scattered around the Tuscan countryside; their presence originates from the fact that the countryside was sparsely populated in the Middle Ages and the lack of convenient means of transport prevented the tenant farmers and their families from making frequent journeys with the result that the population gathered into communities that were self-sufficient in providing for their daily needs.
Environments dating back to 1200 which become elegant accommodations of charm.
Bread was baked in a community oven located where the swimming pool now stands; the hub of social life was the little square (now restored), which is also where wheat was threshed and grapes were pressed. The community also made the implements it needed for its daily work. Life in 1200 was far from easy, but today, following the rediscovery and valorisation of these environments, which have been restored fully respecting architectural and environmental principles, we are able to live in direct contact with nature enjoying all the comforts and amenities of modern times.
